Gambhir receives death threats for the third time

Former cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gautam Gambhir allegedly received another death threat from ‘ISIS Kashmir’, third in six days, as per the reports.

The cricketer-turned-politician had allegedly received death threats on Tuesday and Wednesday also.

He received these threats via an email

He urged the police to register a First Information Report and provide him with enhanced protection. Following the incident, the security around Gambhir house in the national capital was beefed up, and a probe was ordered.

Gambhir claimed that the threat email read, “We’re going to kill you and your family.”

It has disheartened Gambhir. Family comes first for everyone and threats like these just makes you go in a shock.

However, within hours of the first email, Gambhir claimed to have received an email that purportedly contained a video footage from outside his residence attached to it.

A probe by the cyber cell and the special cell of Delhi police reportedly traced the earlier email to an IP address in Pakistan’s Karachi.

Delhi Police has confirmed the receipt of the third email threat to the former cricketer and said that Delhi Police has also been mentioned in the letter.

A staunch nationalist, the 40-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been extremely vocal about the issue of terrorism in Kashmir. Earlier in December 2019 as well, Gambhir had approached the Delhi Police alleging death threats to him and his family members from an international number.  He had then also urged the police to lodge a case and ensure the safety and security of his family.
