India successfully tests Pinaka-ER

Finally India has tested it’s New version of Pinaka MK-1 rocket system which is called Pinaka-ER (extended range). Pinaka MK-1 is the missile system which has been in the service of the Indian Army for decades, Pinaka-ER is the upgraded version of Pinaka MK-1 with extended range and warhead capacity.

 In June DRDO tested enhanced range versions of indigenously developed Pinaka rockets and 122mm Caliber rockets from a Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) in Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. During that period the Defense ministry said that with enhanced range Pinaka can destroy the target at a distance of 45 kilometers away. The Pinaka-ER is the upgraded version of Pinaka MK-1 so it’s range should be more than 45 kilometers.

The test was carried out on Pokhran testing range on Saturday.

DRDO(defense research and development organization) have mentioned that the test was successful and with Pinaka- ER they also have tested Area Denial Munitions (ADM) and indigenously developed fuses on several testing renges.

DRDO laboratories – Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune have came together to design Pinaka-ER.

Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune have Also developed proximity fuses for Pinaka, whose testing too was done today itself successfully. ARDE have developed different types of Fuzes for different purposes for Pinaka rocket system, which will help India to become Atmanibhar in the field of rocket fuses so now India doesn’t need to import the Rocket fuses from different countries which will directly save the foreign reserve.

Total 24 rockets were fired for different ranges and warhead capacity to meet the accurate expectations.

Now, the initial phase of technology absorption of Pinaka-ER by the Industry Partner has successfully been completed making the Industry Partner ready for series production of the rocket system. With this DRDO have also tested the miniaturized fuzes for ADMs which is Also designed by ARDE. The DRDO tested it’s dual performance of dual-purpose Direct-Action Self Destruction (DASD) and Anti-Tank Munition (ATM) the evaluation for both the trials was satisfactory enough and the testing was successful.
