PM Modi hosts President Putin for one-to-one meeting on Dec 6

PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin have close personal chemistry and are known to have discussions that go on for hours and into the week hours of next morning.

Despite changes in geopolitical equations, the friendship of India and Russia remained constant, said PM Modi during meet with Vladimir Putin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

This is Mr Putin’s second overseas trip since the Covid pandemic began.

In a conversation with PM Modi, Putin said that he looks forward to developing relations with India. “We perceive India as a great power, a friendly nation, and a time-tested friend. The relations between our nations are growing and I am looking into the future”, he said.

Putin echoed the sentiments and said that Russia perceives India as a “friendly nation”.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the two countries cooperated during the Covid pandemic as well, in the field of vaccine and humanitarian support.

Pointing out that the two countries have held joint military exercises in both Indian and Russian territories, he said that Russia intends to work further on this matter.

Last time, a small tent was put inside the PM’s residence, where the two friends had close discussions over Indian delicacies with only the presence of interpreters. The two plus two dialogues between India and Russian defense and external affairs ministers is expected to be held on the same day before the summit.

“You should be credited for the strategic partnership between our countries for the 3 decades,” PM Modi said during the summit that took place hours after the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries held their inaugural ”2+2” dialogue with an aim to widen the ambit of discussions on strategically important issues. The visit is in continuation of the tradition of annual summits held alternately in India and Russia.
